 Lomi Lomi Basic -16 CE

A discussion of the history of Lomi Lomi massage in the Hawaiian Islands, including kahunas and introduction of the skills taught by Aunty Margaret Machado to non-indigenous people.  A discuss of the Hawaiian philosophy of Ho’oponopono will also be introduced.  Discuss, demonstration and practice of the traditional Pololei style of massage practiced by Aunty Margaret will be taught.  Pololei is the use of long, broad strokes with compression using forearms and elbows.  A discussion and comparison of the compression, petrissage and effleurage strokes normally used in Swedish Massage to the Lomi techniques will be done during the class

Lomi Lomi is traditional Hawaiian massage that has been practiced by Hawaiian kahunas for centuries.  The style of Lomi that will be taught is the Pololei style taught by Aunty Margaret Machado after she broke with the tradition of keeping the work secretive and began to teach this style to anyone.

In this class the student will be introduced to the basic protocol of a Lomi Lomi massage sessions.  Use of forearms and elbows will be stressed and each student will receive one on one instruction from the instructor.  The Pololei style of Lomi Lomi enables the therapist to massage the entire body with a minimal amount of hand work and no thumb work.  The work is performed using forearm and elbow positions and body mechanics is a large part of the body leverage used to create the pressure required for this work.

I have been studying Lomi Lomi since 2003 and have taken both the Basic and Advanced coursed offered by Alice Belusko, LMT who studied with Aunty Margaret on the Big Island of Hawaii.  I submit this as my lineage much like a Reiki Instructor submits their lineage when they teach.  The style of Lomi that I teach is the same as it was taught to me and as taught to my initial instructor by Aunty.  I have since studied Temple Lomi via DVD by Tom Cochran and Lomi Lomi as taught by Tamra Mondragon on DVD as well as attended Mana Lomi classes taught by Barbara Helynn Heard who studied with Dr. Maka'ala Yates DC, a former student/colleague also of Aunty.  My style is not the long, flowing strokes of Temple Lomi but rather a combination of lomilomi (petrissage) and compressions to create a deep but relaxing massage for your clients.

As Aunty says, "If your hands are gentle and loving, they will feel the sincerity of your touch".

This class is not recommended for anyone who cannot lay face down for an extended period of time.

Standard table linens and lotion or oil is required.

Adding Lomi Lomi Massage Advanced  Techniques- 8 CE

A further discussion of the history of Lomi Lomi massage in the Hawaiian Islands, including other interpretations and teaching styles.  A further discussion of the Hawaiian philosophy of Ho'oponopono and extra movements and techniques added to the standard protocol taught in Lomi Lomi Basic.

This class is not recommended for anyone who cannot lay face down for an extended period of time.

Standard table linens and lotion or oil is required.

Creating the Perfect Client Session
A Day of Synthesis - A Fun, New Class! - 8 CE
This class will be a day of synthesis, a day where the blending of anatomy, physiology, techniques known, creativity and client input create the perfect session for that client.  Students will bring together everything they have learned up to this point along with any new techniques which the rest of the class may bring to the table to blend or synthesize their learnings into one unique session for a client.
In the class the students will be introduced to the ways to ‘assess the whole person, evaluate those finds and determine what work to use on this client session and plan for future sessions.  We will use body mapping and life mapping as keys to co-create with the client a beneficial and workable plan for their bodywork in this particular session and going forward.
This class will be a day of putting it all together.  A day of fun in the pleasure of giving and receiving a wonderful bodywork session.
The first half of the day will be spent in discussion and demonstration.  Discussion of ways to work with your clients to create a session tailored specifically to them and demonstration by the instructor of some methods for applying certain techniques with group participation included.
The second half of the day will be spent breaking into client/therapist groups and using learnings from the 1st half to create the perfect client session and then applying it to the student "client".
What better way to spend a day than learning from your peers and enjoying a 90 minute massage!
This class is worth the price just to get the 90 minute massage that you will be receiving!

What do you need to bring?
Linens, lotions, pen or pencil and a willingness to learn and experience new modalities.
Any class scheduled at my home will be an outdoors class depending on weather!

Introduction to Chakras and Chakra Balancing - 8 CE

This class will include a discussion of the history of the Chakras and their Sanskrit origins as well as the connection to the glands of the Endocrine System and interaction with the Central Nervous System.  Students will be introduced to the emotions, colors and imbalances within each of the 7 main Chakras of the body.

In the class the students will be introduced to the ways to ‘read’ the Chakras in the body and how to incorporate this into a standard Swedish Massage Session.  The understanding of the Chakras and energy in general in the body will allow the therapists to have a better understanding of what emotions may be causing physical pain to manifest in the body.
Students are also be taught and practice an Energy Chelation Protocol.

Students should bring table, a blanket or throw and paper & pencil for note taking.
A pendulum may be used but is not required.

I will continue to teach this class to anyone interested in the Chakras regardless of any State Massage Therapy Board or NCBTMBs approval of Energy Work.  Please keep posted to see how this plays out over the next few years.

Advanced Chakra Balancing and Introduction to Reiki - 8 CE
Introduction to Chakras and Chakra Balancing is a pre-requisite!

This class will be a continuation of the Introduction to Chakras and Chakra Balancing class and will introduce oils for Chakra Balancing and an Introduction to Usui Reiki.  Reiki is for information only as it relates to Energy Work and will not include a Reiki attunemnt.  A full day Reiki class is required for Attunement!
