Come and sit a spell
Let's talk about how things are, how things could be,
and the state of life in general
and the state of life in general
So have you created your Definite Purpose? What are you waiting for?
Maybe not knowing what you want is holding you back from being where you want to be. How can you possibility get somewhere without knowing where that somewhere is? It's like getting in your car to go on a trip without first deciding where you are going to go AND without a map! Even if you may not know exactly how to get there, having a definite destination in mind will at the very least give you a point on the map to shoot for. I know some of you out there are saying, but I really don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I have said that for most of my adult life! Through 3 different career paths! But I have an ultimate goal - a Definite Purpose, as Napoleon Hill would say. You have to set an ultimate goal, even if it is in your head. Yes, I know that everyone will tell you that it must be written down and that you have to come up with short range goals and long range goals to get you to that ultimate goal. This is where I will mix it up a bit, because in my experience, holding that goal in your mind makes that thought, that desire, become an actuality. Yes, there it is - Thoughts become things! For every goal that you set, whether written down or just held in your mind at all times, it is a law of the Universe that it must become a physical "thing". Because anything that you can think about and strive to with all of your passion, emotion and effort has not choice but to become a reality. And if you tell me now that only bad things happen to you then my response will be then you must only be thinking of the negative things that could happen if you try to do a certain thing. No one ever accomplished a great thing by thinking that they would fail. It is said that Edison "tried" to create the light bulb many, many times over before it became a reality. He never gave up! He always kept the positive thought in his mind that he could create it and that he would make it happen. Milton Hershey failed miserably many times before the now famous Hershey Bar! What makes you any different than them. Or even the not so great people, who have persevered in their thoughts to get where they are today. i see them everyday in my classroom! People who may have lost jobs, or become disillusioned by the negativity in the world to rise above it by their thoughts that they could! So create your Definite Purpose now! Create goals and then see them in your mind, feel what it will be like to achieve your Definite Purpose. Hear what people are saying as they congratulate you on your achievement! See the "things" you own since your Definite Purpose has been realized! Taste it, smell it, use all of your senses and emotions as you visualize what life is now like since you reached your Definite Purpose! Next: The next step in The Law of Success

Mike Dooley says that "luck"is what happens when true understanding is followed by action. It was a serendipitous moment for me when I walked into a Books a Million bookstore in Sanford, Florida about 15 years ago and Mike Dooley was there promoting his book Totally Unique Thoughts. The synchronicity happened when a few years later, in Hawaii, I purchased a keychain that had a saying from the very same book. "Life's an illusion just waiting for you, to believe in your dreams so that they can come true!
Your dreams can come true, all you have to do is start with a vision and then take steps on the road to that vision, or goal, or definite purpose as defined by Napoleon Hill. Dr. Wayne Dyer says "You'll see it when you believe it", not the standard "I'll believe it when I see it". All you have to do is start! So what is the start, how do you begin. In the Infinite Possibilities coursework you begin by doing a little self analysis. What are the things that you have been told about certain aspects of your life? What do you think that you know about life, God, people, success or why you are even here? Take a minute and think about that. What are some of the "sayings" that you associated with life? Life is hard. Life is unfair. In order to get anywhere in life you have to work hard. What about Success? In order to succeed you have to work hard at it. To be a success you have to give up things. What about people in general? People are crazy. Be careful of strangers. Always watch your back. What about God? God is All Powerful, the creator, omnipotent, judgemental. All of these "things" that you "know" about these aspects of life are based on what you have been taught through thoughts or teachings from other people. They have become your belief system. And sometimes, in fact most times, they are from the experiences of other people, not from your own life experiences. Where do you think many prejudices come from. We are not born with those prejudices but rather are taught to us by parents, elders and the prejudices of others. AND they continue because that is what we think will be the outcome of a situation. In the Infinite Possibilities coursework you are taught that the real truths of life include:
2. Dream, imagine and visualize. 3. Take daily action moving in the direction of our dreams and goals. Doesn't that sound a lot more pleasant than what you may have been lead to believe? Haven't you seen some of this in your own life? When you ask yourself the hard questions about life and really accept the reality that what we have built is of our own making and then understand that we also have the power to change that reality, then we understand that blindly accepting another person's answers to our questions is not the real truth about life. If you are beginning to think that what I have suggested here just might be the way to approach your own goals and dreams, then stay right here as I address those topics that may have been puzzling you up to this point. Topics like: How can I make my thoughts become things? Hint, you're doing it right now! How can I change those limiting beliefs that have held me back for so long? Visualize! What about the emotions that limit or control me? They are the reactions to life events. How can I take the action to make things happen? Hint, you just might be doing that right now too! What is faith and the meaning of life? Ahhh, the big questions! My goal is to take you through the Infinite Possibilities Coursework by giving some brief talks about each chapter, but if you want more in depth information or to interact with other people please check my education page for dates, times and locations of Introductory talks and Group meetings. Next: Thoughts Become Things Yes, there was a smoothie yesterday, but had to hurry to get out of the house before they blocked off the road in front of my house. So this morning it is pineapple, strawberry and banana with vanilla yogurt, orange juice and vanilla whey protein powder. Got very thick, I think because the strawberries and pineapple were frozen. Giant had pineapples buy one get one free so one got dried (which my students enjoyed) and the other got frozen. Don't think my stick blender was happy with the frozen pineapples thought. Still Yummy! Napoleon Hill (October 26, 1883 – November 8, 1970) was an American author in the area of the new thought movement who was one of the earliest producers of the modern genre of personal-success literature. He is widely considered to be one of the great writers on success. His most famous work, Think and Grow Rich (1937), is one of the best-selling books of all time (at the time of Hill's death in 1970, Think and Grow Rich had sold 20 million copies). He became an advisor to President Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1933 to 1936. "What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve" is one of Hill's hallmark expressions. How achievement actually occurs, and a formula for it that puts success in reach of the average person, were the focal points of Hill's books. According to his official biography, Napoleon Hill was born in a one-room cabin near the Appalachian town of Pound, in Southwest Virginia. Hill's mother died when he was nine years old, and his father remarried two years later. At the age of 13, Hill began writing as a "mountain reporter" for small-town newspapers in the area of Wise County, Virginia. He later used his earnings as a reporter to enter law school, but soon he had to withdraw for financial reasons. Hill considered the turning point in his life to have occurred in the year 1908 with his assignment, as part of a series of articles about famous and successful men, to interview the industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. At the time, Carnegie was one of the most powerful men in the world. Hill discovered that Carnegie believed that the process of success could be outlined in a simple formula that anyone would be able to understand and achieve. Impressed with Hill, Carnegie asked him if he was up to the task of putting together this information, to interview or analyze over 500 successful men and women, many of themmillionaires, in order to discover and publish this formula for success. As part of his research, Hill claimed to have interviewed many of the most successful people of the time in the United States. In the acknowledgments section of his 1928 multi-volume work The Law of Success, Hill listed 45 of those studied by him during the previous twenty years, "the majority of these men at close range, in person", like the three to whom the book set was dedicated, Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, and Edwin C. Barnes, an associate of Thomas Edison. (Previous information taken directly from Wikipedia.) So I am attempting to let you know my thoughts about The Law of Success. chapter by chapter. Chapter 1: A Definite Purpose - This is the major goal that you have set for yourself as to where you want to be in life. Be careful what you pick as your Definite Purpose since once you select it, and start concentrating on it, your subconscious mind will do everything that it can to get your body into physical action to get you toward that purpose. This is an established principle of psychology. "Any definite purpose that is deliberately fixed in the mind and held there, with the determination to realize it, finally saturates the entire subconscious mind until it automatically influences the physical action of the body toward the attainment of that purpose." Hill uses the concept of Auto Suggestion to make this happen. This is the process of using affirmations and setting goals to get to the object of your main desire. You need to see the end result, feel the end result, touch the end result in order to get the fulfillment of that end result firmly planted in your brain using conscious thought. Conscious thought will, with repetition, eventually become a part of your subconscious mind. Once it is in the subconscious mind, the emotion of that fulfillment will provide the stimulus the body needs to spring into action and the action will, with time, bring you to your Definite Purpose. AND your definite purpose is limited only by your imagination! BUT you have to be very specific about your Definite Purpose. What is YOUR goal? If you can see it, feel it, touch it, etc. with every emotion that goes with it then be very specific in defining it. Now, if your goal is to find a mate, I don't think that you should pick, for example, a specific movie star, celebrity or the boy/girl that sits next to you in Math class. What I do suggest that you do is pick the qualities of the person that you see as your perfect mate and start concentrating on finding that person, then I believe that if you set that as you goal, then you will attract that person to you. Through the desire to have that in your life. Your desire to have something is what leads you to set that Definite Purpose. The actions that you take as part of the emotion attached to that Definite Purpose are then what make you achieve the result. Begin today by creating your Definite Purpose. Then create the affirmations that you will repeat or read every day to set that goal into your subconscious. Get into the habit of doing the things to make your Definite Purpose a reality. Develop the ability to direct your thoughts and efforts in an organized manner. Every thing you do every day should be directed toward your Definite Purpose. A caveat (warning) - your Definite Purpose should be within your scope of expertise! If it is outside your scope of expertise then you need to gain the expertise you need to get to that Definite Purpose. This morning I logged into Facebook and discovered Dr. Joe Dispenza through a post by someone in my Infinite Possibilities Group!
Thoughts Become Things from the scientific viewpoint. Those of you who know me, know that I can't just teach something but that I need to know the background of the answers. Consider that I can't just tell you about Lyme's Disease in Pathology but need to give you the entire background of why it is named Lyme's and then what first occurred, etc. The history of the pathology. It is the same with listening to Dr. Dispenza. The science of how your thoughts become memories in the brain and create chemical reactions that stimulate the brain through emotion and create new circuits within the brain. Talk about Synchronicity! Reading Napoleon Hill, creating my own document, preparing for an Infinite Possibilities (IP) talk and along comes a FaceBook post about Dr. Joe Dispenza. Thank you Universere - it is all coming together! Science and Spirituality are coming together for me! As with any other blog that I have tried to start, this is the beginning. Hopefully this one will take hold a contain my thoughts, wisdom and research to all manner of things that I am currently interested in. This morning, it will be my daily breakfast smoothie - what to have, what to have. I believe I will start with a banana, then add peaches, yogurt, coconut milk and of course some vanilla protein powder. Let's see how that turns out! Ahh, yummy delicious-ness! The lemon-mango water is for the rest of the day! Thoughts become things, think good ones! Paraphrasing Mike Dooley |
